Eternal Hope

We continue through Hebrews and are reminded that the first covenant was a shadow of the second. In being a shadow, it bore the form and likeness of the second covenant, but the second covenant is the completed and better thing.

We were reminded how Christ's death opens the eternal tabernacle, or the heavenly court for us. Through this, we are promised Christ's inheritance as sons and daughters of God. This promise and inheritance is what makes Easter such an incredible day. Our salvation, adoption, and the promise of eternity in the presence of God come at a high cost, but are freely given to us. In other words, Christ has paid the whole cost for our sin, so that we can enjoy a life in him and rest in the presence of God for all eternity.

Reflection questions:

  1. Are there reasons that you feel hopeless in your life? Make note of these and prayerfully consider how you can replace this hopelessness with the hope you have in Christ.

  2. Make a list of times you've felt a deep sense of awe, and take time to reflect on how much more awe you will feel when you experience the eternal presence of God.

Awe is a foreshadowing of our eternal hope.
Some people find awe in places of incredible natural beauty.
