A very blessed and joy-filled Ascension Day to all of you. Today we celebrate Christ's ascending into heaven and taking his rightful place at the right hand of the Father. Today we are reminded of the completion of Christ's work until his coming again.
I was reading the story of Moses going up Mount Sinai this morning and was reminded of the incredible power of God's glory. We, as sinners, in our sin, are unable and unworthy to gaze upon His glory. For this reason, the Israelites were not permitted to go up Sinai with Moses. Yet, it is in Christ that we can now approach the throne of God; we can worship Him, we can gaze upon Him in our hearts - though we do it only dimly. This fellowship with the Father is ultimately the benefit of Christ's ascension into heaven, not only that we have an advocate who is seated at the right hand of the Father, but the door to the throne room is now open to all who believe.
With all that in mind - I want to remind everyone that we have Holy Communion tonight at 6 pm to celebrate the Ascension of our Lord.
Sunday we have our regular schedule:
9 am - Christian Education
10 am - Holy Communion for the Sunday after Ascension
Wednesday - 6 pm - Evensong and Soup Supper.
Friday - 11:30 am - Ladies' Guild and Men's Fellowship
Saturday - 9 am - Bible Study
I hope that everyone is well, and has a joyous and blessed remainder of the week. I hope to see many of you this evening, and I look forward to seeing everyone Sunday.
