Let us be thankful for the gift of much-needed moisture. I am sure we could still use more, but it was a good thing to wake to the sight of snow falling yesterday morning.
The parish hall reorganization project is well underway. The vast majority of the books have been moved, either to permanent or temporary homes and what will become the rector's office looks like a completely different room. Thank you to those of you who have helped with this, shared your excitement and ideas for how to decorate.
Ladies Guild and Men's Fellowship
Our Ladies Guild and Men's Fellowship will meet tomorrow, March 2nd at 11 am. As always they are a good time of not only fellowship but productive work. If you are free, try to attend, it is an edifying time.
Adult Christian Education continues to meet at 9 am on Sunday mornings, before the service. Please remember to bring your Book of Common Prayer as we will be discussing the 39 Articles of Religion.
We have been having a beautiful time of prayer, delicious soup, and I hope edifying learning on Wednesday nights. If you plan on attending this next week, please take a moment to read Genesis chapters 1-3. I would like to take some time to talk about the creation and fall.
Men's and Women's Bible Study meet simultaneously on the Second Saturday of the Month at 9 am. Both groups will be going through "The Essential One-hundred Bible Readings." While this study is designed to be jumped into at any point, as the ladies are starting a new session this is the perfect time to join if you've been thinking about it.
Book and bake sale!
The Ladies Guild will be hosting a book and bake sale April 6-7. They would like to ask that everyone would bring in used books, CDs, DVDs, and records to sell. Please also start baking delicious baked goods to freeze and sell.
This past week the city council of Prescott asked if I could lead the invocation to open the meeting. I was able to stay for about an hour and listen to the proceedings which was quite interesting. It was an honor to appear before them and pray for our city. I used a varied form of the prayer for State Legislators:
O GOD, the fountain of wisdom, whose statutes are good and gracious and whose law is truth; We thank you for the city of Prescott and the men and women who serve it. We beseech thee so to guide and bless the City Council, that it may ordain for our governance only such things as please thee, to the glory of thy Name and the welfare of the people; through Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord. Amen.
Let us ever be mindful of the need to pray not only for our church, but our community, our country, the missionary work of our church around the world, and all people.
I trust that everyone is well, and as always, I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
