Encouraging words from Fr. Bill Baker, Curate, St. Andrew's Church, Jacksonville, OR

Good Morning good people of God,

In these intense times of trial many lives are in upheaval. Things have changed for the moment and uncertainty is a thread that connects us all. But, there is hope if we continue daily to put our trust in God our Father. There is no need to fear but only to abide by CDC regulations and continue in your Godly faith.

For your comfort I have expanded the following verses that you may continue in love and contentment as we traverse these waters together. Know that we are praying for you all.

6 Reasons to Trust God

1. Our Father knows you by name: Isaiah 43:1-3

And now, thus says the Lord God who made you, O Jacob, and who formed you O Israel: Fear not, for I redeemed you. I called you by your name, for you are mine. If you pass through water, I am with you; and the rivers shall not overflow you. If you pass through fire, you shall not be burned up, nor shall the flame consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, who saves you.

2. Our Father thinks about you: Psalm 139:14-18

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

3. Our Father will fight for you: Exodus 14:14-16

“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

4. Our Father is always with you: Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

5. Our Father has a plan for you: Jeremiah 29:11-12

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

6. Our Father is your refuge: Psalm 62:5-8

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
